Chester Rypkowski

Chester V. Rypkowski, 69, of Alba, passed away on May 28, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. Chester was born on June 3, 1946, in Detroit, the son of Isaac and Helen (Basinski) Rypkowski. Chester served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an Alba resident since 1969 where he was active on the Star Township Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the NRA and the Antrim County Sheriff Association. He was employed with Standard Products/currently Cooper Standard in Gaylord for over 40 years and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. On February 15, 1969, in Gaylord, he married Marilyn Beckner who survives. Also surviving are two children, Steven (Melissa) Rypkowski of Alba, Sherry (Lee) Jenkins of Fife Lake, three grandchildren, Lance and Luke Rypkowski and Hannah Jenkins, as well as a brother Dennis Rypkowski of Gaylord, two sisters, Barbara (Harry) Wegrecki of Gaylord, Linda (Vic) Galbraith of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Maxine Jasinski and a brother Frank Rypkowski. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Sam McClellan will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Wednesday also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Star Township Fire Department.
