Charles L. McPherson, 79, of Kewadin, passed away on August 11, 2017 at his home.
He was born on March 22, 1938, in Pontiac, MI, the son of Merrill and Leone (Chapin) McPherson and graduated in 1956 from Walled Lake high School.
Chuck started McPherson & Sons Well Drilling Inc. in 1973 where he ran it for many years. In 1970, he built his family home where he resided until his death.
Chuck has been a Mason since 1964 and is a life member. He was an honorary member of the Michigan Ground Water Association and served as director from the Traverse City district for 25 years. He taught hunters safety for many years in Elk Rapids.
He enjoyed many successful hunting trips with his sons and good friends. These trips included, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan ,Ontario, Quebec Canada,Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, and most of all hunting with his sons and granddaughters on his farm near Ellsworth.
On May 7, 1966, in Central Lake, he married Shirley Dawson who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Chuck (Jill) McPherson of Roscommon, MI, John ( Dr. Danielle) McPherson of Alger, MI, three grandchildren, Madison, Molly and Clayton McPherson, a sister, Dorothy Westover, in-laws, Jerri McPherson, Ginny Carter, Bill and Ella Coaster, Wilda Bryce as well as many nieces and nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orin and Bob, a brother-in-law Max Carter and a nephew Matt McPherson.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 18 at 12 noon at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township.
The family asks that instead of sending flowers, please do something nice for someone to brighten their day. Some of the smallest things mean the most.
