Charles Ward “Chuck” Mandeville, Jr. age 84 of Central Lake passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
He was born to Charles and Lujean (Garrison) Mandeville on October 11, 1937. Chuck married Gail Snyder on May 13, 1961. They were married 61 years, and raised two sons, Matthew and Bradley.
Chuck started work as a teacher and coach at Lake Fenton High School. His great love was coaching. He and Gail owned and operated Crestmont Medical Care, a skilled nursing facility in Fenton. He served as a President of the Michigan Nursing Home Association and was instrumental in founding the second Hospice formed in Michigan. He also was involved in building one of the earliest Assisted Living facilities in Michigan.
Chuck enjoyed boating, fishing, and skiing. He served on the Boyne Highland Ski Patrol for 25 years. He stayed involved in sports, his fraternity brothers over the years, and had many good friends. He was devoted to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amy.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Gail; children, Matthew (Abbie) Mandeville of Central Lake, Bradley Mandeville of Kewadin, grandchildren, America and Autumn Mandeville; sister Donna Jean Fike of Jensen Beach, FL, and brother-in-law Edward Snyder of Kewadin.
A funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Central Lake at 11 a.m. on August 24th with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township. Memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan High School Athletic Association, 1661 Ramblewood Dr., East Lansing, MI 48823.
