Charles Harris

Charles R. Harris, 73, of Milton Twp., died suddenly, Fri. June 13, 2014 at home. He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Detroit, the son of Carl V. and Helen (McCauley) Harris. Charles was employed as a Detroit firefighter for 28 years, retiring as Captain in 1990 and moving up north. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities in his free time, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan. He also looked forward to morning coffee with his friends. Surviving are his children Ken (Brenda) Harris of East Jordan, Jeff (Carol ) Harris of Brighton, Lori Harris of Lake Orion, Lisa (Rod) Dolen of Winchester, IL, sister Nancy L. Harris of Westland, 7 grandchildren: Casey Dolen, William Harris, Matthew Harris, Allie Dolen, Lauren Harris, Joely Dolen, and Braydon Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Schlottman and his beloved dog Chili. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends starting at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Milton Twp Fire Dept.
