Charles Day

Charles (Charlie) R. Day, 75 of Alden, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born September 17, 1933, in Kalamazoo, the son of Elton and Gladys (Pallette) Day. More than anything else Charlie loved spending time with his family. His love, humor, and devotion to them was apparent. He also enjoyed golf and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. On June 22, 1957 in Kalamazoo, Charlie married Judy Ann Hays. They both grew up in Kalamazoo and they raised their family in Alden. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Judy, his 4 children; Lori (Todd) Aubertin, of Contoocook, NH, Gordon (Karen) Day of Rapid City, Scott (Kristin) Day of Hatteras Island, NC, Darci (George) Lewis of Kalkaska, 3 brothers; Donald (Marilyn) Day, Kenneth (Norma) Day, Bud (Sally) Day, 5 sisters; Pat (Lou) Lipes, Mary (Bill) Nigg, Carol Stickler, Elizabeth (Gregg) Fox, Margaret Krum, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Paul and Larry Day, and sister Marilynne Boyle. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, January 2, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
