Charles "Chuck" Kiteley

Charles (Chuck) Albert Kiteley, 87, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.  He was born on November 18, 1935, in Carland, Michigan, son of George and Letha Kiteley.

Chuck was a dairy farmer for 40 years and then he and his wife, Carmen, started Kiteley Strawberry Farm, where they grew and sold specialty crops for 18 years before retiring in 2000.  Chuck was a member of Charlevoix County Soil Conservation, Michigan Milk Cooperative, Charlevoix County Farm Bureau, and the National Turkey Federation. He was named young farmer of the year in 1970.  Charles loved to hunt and fish here locally and in Montana.

Mr. Kiteley is survived by his wife, Carmen, and four children, Charles (Gay) Kiteley, Cindy (Ron) Shapton, Mike (Sue) Kiteley, and Dan Kiteley and one sister, LaVonn Siminski.  Charles and Carmen (his childhood sweetheart) have been married 68 years and have ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Grandchildren: Edmund, Andrew, Adam, Fisher, Katie (Kirby), Casey, Alison Kiteley and Jason, Trevor and Emily (Cunningham) Shapton.

Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at noon.  Interment in Brookside Cemetery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandvue Medical Care Facility, in memory of Charles Kiteley, 1728 S. Peninsula Rd., East Jordan, MI 49727.
