Charles Badura

Charles S. Badura, 87, of Mancelona, passed away July 11, 2012 at Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born October 9, 1924 in Detroit the son of Charles and Sophia (Rakowska) Badura. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was twice decorated as a POW and a survivor of Stalag 17B. After his service in the military he earned his teaching degree. He taught at Howell High School for 37 years. Charles enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader, particularly of mysteries and was a lifelong fan of Sherlock Holmes. Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years Julia A. (Chaffee) Badura, their children Paul H. Badura of Mancelona, Christine A. (David J.) Lamoreaux of Fowlerville, and Martha Jane Badura (Patrick Belliotti) of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren Bruce, Tyler, Benjamin and Lucas; niece Margaret, nephews Tom, Charles, Phillip and Kenneth. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by two sons Stephen Charles Badura and Bruce Gordon Badura, parents, and sister Aurelia James. Services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place per his wishes. Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
