Carolyn (Everett) DeForest

Carolyn Mae DeForest, 83, of  Mancelona, died Wednesday, August 15th 2018, from complications of a stroke she suffered 3 weeks ago.  She was born December 20th, 1934 in Central Lake to Wellington “Kip” Orra DeForest and Mae Marie Ferree.

Carolyn worked hard raising her large family and as the kids got older, she also worked for many years in the various local canning factories.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing jigsaw puzzles, puzzle books, playing board, card, and dice games, taking long walks, and loved reading.  Her pets were very special to her, especially her dog Mickey.

Surviving are her sister Lulabelle “Lu” Johnson; her children Ernest Dale Everett Jr of Mancelona, Ginny Foltz of Flint, Terry Williams of Mancelona, Kevin Deyoe of Petoskey, Keith Murray of Marlette, Kent (Trish) Murray of Waters, Melody (Duane) Everett-Neddo of Rapid City, Kirk (Angela) Everett of Florida and Andrew Everett of Saginaw; 22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Preceding Carolyn in death were her former husband and father of their 12 children, Ernest “Ernie” Dale Everett Sr, in 2010; daughters Debra Diane Everett, in 1955, Sarah Ann Everett in 1971, and Carolyn Mae Everett in 1983; grandsons, Donald Murray in 2012 and Ernest “Tiger” Dale Everett III in 1993.

A graveside funeral service will be Monday, August 20th at 10 a.m. at Dunsmore Cemetery in Echo Township, Antrim County, Michigan.  Please arrive by 9:30 for a short visitation prior to the service.  Rev. Melinda Watros will officiate.  Mortensen Funeral Home in Central Lake is in charge of the arrangements and can receive any flowers.  Feel free to bring a chair if you would like a place to sit for the ceremony.  Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
