Carole Novotny

Carole Jean Novotny, 80, of Charlevoix, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey. She was born June 10, 1935, in Wyoming, Mich. to Seth and Viola (Hartman) VanWormer. She graduated from Lee High School in Wyoming.

On January 9, 1954, Carole married William R. Novotny in Grand Rapids, and they made their home in Charlevoix.

Carole was a waitress at the Argonne Supper Club, and was a floral designer for Charlevoix Floral and A Touch of Spring.

She is survived by her husband, William R.; children, Gary of Bay City, Terri (Tom) Jones, Kimberly (Rob) Crandell, Timothy (Sandra) Novotny all of Charlevoix; grandchildren, Tyler Lalley, Zackary Crandell, Chantel and Jacob Novotny, Lindsay Machemer, Garrett Novotny; brother, Ronald (Carol) VanWormer of Newago.

Carol was preceded in death by her son, William Scott in 1967; and brother, Wayne VanWormer.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Wednesday, September 16, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. Funeral will be 11:30 am, Thursday, September 17, at the Winchester Funeral Home. The Reverend Gayle Gennett will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.
