Carol Rakestraw

Carol J Rakestraw, 73 of Central Lake, died peacefully at home on June 22, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born August 4, 1943 in Tipton, Indiana the daughter of Edgar and Eva Mae (Phillips) Barnes.

On April 4, 1965 in Tipton Co., Indiana she married the love of her life Harry Rakestraw.  In 1995 they moved to Central Lake where Carol enjoyed fishing and bowling.  She also enjoyed sewing and cooking. Carol was very loving, funny and known as a practical joker.

Surviving Carol is her husband Harry of 52 years, her children Harry Jr. Rakestraw of Elwood, IN, Shawn Rakestraw of Kokomo, IN, Michelle (Bob) Weesner of Mancelona, brothers William Barnes and Lloyd Barnes both of Tipton, IN, granddaughters Samantha Parrish and Savannah Rakestraw, great granddaughters Paisley Jean and Ava Jolee, and many other relatives and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, June 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Interment will take place back in her home state of Indiana.
