CARL E. STAHL, 77, of Bellaire, passed away on March 1, 2013 at Munson Medical Center. Carl was born on September 11, 1935 in Sebewaing, MI., the son of John and Bertha (Rievert) Stahl. Carl was a longtime resident of Bellaire and was employed by the DNR as a Forest Fire Officer for 40 years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, traveling out west and playing baseball. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the NRA as well as the REMF (Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation). On March 26, 1977, in Bellaire, he married Jacqueline Grevers who survives. Also surviving are 10 children, Steve Stahl of Bellaire, Scott (Petra) Stahl of Buckley, Shane Stahl of Pellston, Stuart Stahl of Maryland, Susan Mayse of Essexville, Alan Harris of Arvada, CO., Paul Harris of Mancelona, Dan (Linda) Harris of Pinckney, Kathie (Bill) Bailey of Cedar, Chrissy (Ryan Newton) Stahl of Central Lake, a brother John (Janet) Stahl of Tillamook, OR., 2 half brothers, James Butsch, Greg (Carol) Butsch, a half sister, Sally Butsch all of Portland, OR., 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. Fr. James Gardiner will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take place in the spring in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Jordan River, 800 Water St., East Jordan, MI., 49727. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
