Carl Dewey

Carl V. Dewey, 85, of Alden, passed away on January 7, 2015. Carl was born on August 29, 1929 in Helena Township, the son of Marshall and Lavina (Steiner) Dewey. Carl was a lifelong resident of Alden and began working on the family farm at a young age and continued working on the farm for many years. Carl didn't just farm for a living, it was his passion in life and he loved every second of it. Farming to him was "fun", not work. He also loved "Real" Country Western Music. On June 12, 1954, in Alden, he married Naida Harris who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Jim (Debi) Dewey of Alden, Dan (Carrie) Dewey of Alden, Marianne (David) Seidl of Hastings, MI, Ron (Christine) Dewey of Fraser, MI, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchidren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Daniel Biteman will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring in Helena Township Cemetery, Alden.
