Burton Moeke

Burton Moeke,  85, of Mancelona, passed away on March 8, 2022 at Munson Medical Center.

   He was born on October 13, 1936, in Zeeland, MI, the son of Albert and Jenny (DeJonge) Moeke.

   Burt was a very hard worker where he was self employed in the logging and lumber business.   He loved being in the outdoors whether for fun or work.   Traveling with his wife Sharon was also a priority of his.   They managed to cover all of the lower 48 with the exception of Oregon.

   On August 31, 1957, in Holland, MI, he married Sharon Lee Mills who survives.   Also surviving are  son Burt II (Sharon) Moeke of Boyne City, Jill Moeke of Bellaire, 5 grandchildren, Steven, Savannah, Emilee, Madelaine, Gerritt, and 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Tristin, AndieLynn, Austin and Eloise.

   Preceding him in death were a grandson Ryan Austin, a brother George Moeke, 2 sisters, Gertrude VanDorple, Vivian Layton and his parents.

   Funeral services will take place on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 12 noon at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Yousef "Yogi" Jabara officiating.   

   Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services also at the funeral home.   

Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.
