Bruce “Nick” Underwood, 52 of Mancelona, died May 21, 2019 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.  He was born May 7, 1967 in Traverse City the son of David and Joanne (McCarty) Underwood.

Nick proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He was stationed in Ft. Campbell, along the Tennessee Kentucky borders and was on active duty for 4 years.  He was with 101st air born in the Desert Storm war in Saudi Arabia and also served 2 years in the National Guard.

Nothing made Nick happier than being a grandpa.  He loved his granddaughter Jacy very much and his daughters too.

Nick also loved the great outdoors and all it had to offer.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, two tracking and bonfires.  His favorite place to be was out at “camp”; “It is peaceful” he always said.

He was funny, kind, generous, very loving and sometimes obnoxious.  Nick loved having a good time and could often be found in the garage with his buddies laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

Preceding Nick in death was son Ryder Nicholas Underwood, his mother Joanne Thompson-McCarty, and great grandparents Lethal Abe McCarty and Marion McCarty.

Surviving are his children Heather (David) Geisen of Ionia, Chantel Underwood (John Reed) of Mancelona, granddaughter Jacy Nichole Geisen of Ionia, his father David Underwood of Colorado, his DAD (the man who helped raise him) Michael S Thompson of Mancelona, his siblings Bobby (Brianna) Underwood of Lakes of the North, Jaime Thompson (Ron)  of Ionia,

Stacey Thompson (Kip) of Hudsonville, Karrie (Justin) Kulhawick of Akron, Ohio, Micheal Thompson (Keli) of Muir, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his dog Ace who was his best buddy.
