Bruce Dickinson

Bruce C. Dickinson passed away quietly on April 5, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on August 31, 1934, to Carlton (Dick) and Bermah (Bea) Dickinson in Cadillac MI and was raised between Cadillac and Bellaire all of his life. He graduated from Cadillac High School and went on to attend Michigan State University.

While he was a student at MSU, he met his wife, Beverly, and they married on June 25, 1955. Bruce and Bev resided in Lansing after they were married, where Bruce began working for the Michigan Department of Transportation with utilities and permits. Bruce met many lifelong friends while working for the State of Michigan and retired after over 40 years of employment to his ‘up north home’ in Bellaire.

Bruce loved to travel, socialize, and most of all hunt and fish. If you could not find him, he was typically out in his boat fishing, in the woods hunting or looking for morels, going on potato and cabbage runs, or hosting friends for dinner and cocktails. Bruce and his wife travelled to Alaska, Ireland, the Caribbean, and also loved Gulf Shores and St. Simons Island. Wherever he went, he made friends and always kept in touch with them.

Bruce most of all loved his time at “The Point”. He spent most of his childhood years there, helping people get to the lodge, showing people the fishing holes and how to clean their catch, as well as helping with the operations of the lodge. He had stories upon stories of the happenings around Bellaire from the time he was a little boy. He taught most of the kids at the point how to waterski and how to drive a fishing boat.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Beverly, his parents and many of his closest friends and fishing and hunting buddies.

Surviving are his daughter Amy (Darrell) Christie of Bellaire MI, grandchildren Emily and Thomas Christie of Bellaire, son Mark Dickinson of Florida, grandchildren Nicole, Dalton, Hayley and Mark Jr. of Alabama and Florida and two great grandchildren.

The family will be planning a graveside service for both Bruce and Beverly early summer at Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire, MI.

Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
