Bonnie L. LaPeer,  78, of Echo Township, passed away on December 29, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.  She was born on November 10, 1943, in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of Harry and Beatrice (Hitchcock) Hazelmyer.

Bonnie's family was the light of her life!  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and they loved playing board games with her.  She enjoyed reading in her spare time and she could often be found cooking and baking for her family, especially her famous blackberry pies.  Bonnie worked for many years as a teachers aid at the Central Lake Public School where her love for children was evident by all who knew who there.

On July 2, 1971, she married Marvin V. LaPeer who survives.  Also surviving are his children Laurie (Kevin) Hischer and Casey (Jessica) LaPeer both of Central Lake, 8 grandchildren Brandon, Alexis, Dylan, Collette, Kelsey, Lizzy, Makenzie, Ariella, 4 great grandchildren Sora, Aurora, Chase, Gunner, half brothers Buzz and Phil Hazelmyer, stepsisters Maureen (Brad) Derenzy and Glenny (Richard) Wells.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dave Hazelmyer, sister in law Betty Hazelmyer, step sister Noni Gee, and half sister Virginia Gillespie.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.   A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Spring interment will be at Dunsmore Cemetery.   Memorial contributions can be made to the Central Lake Food Pantry or the Central Lake Fire and Rescue.
