Beverly C. Taup, 73, of Alden, MI passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cherry Hill Haven in Traverse City. Beverly was born July 7, 1940 in Bay City, the daughter of Edward and Alvina (Walz) Carlin. Beverly graduated from Bay City Junior College and Western Michigan University with a Teaching Degree. She taught third and fourth grade in Midland, MI before becoming the Director of a Preschool in Hillsdale, NJ for over 20 years. She loved working with the children and making a difference in their lives. She enjoyed gardening, taking long walks, playing tennis, traveling and spending summers on Torch Lake. She was an active volunteer with Friends of the Alden Library and Grass River Natural Area among other organizations. Most of all her pride and joy was her family. On April 10, 1965 she married James Taup in Bay City, MI. She is survived by James; her two daughters, Megan (Philip) Leary of Westfield, NJ., and Amy (Robert) Maloof of Hoboken, NJ; brother, Roger (Peggy) Carlin of Black River, MI; four loving grandchildren, Katie Leary, Emily Leary, William Maloof and Nicholas Maloof. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28th at Lakeview Cemetery in Torch Lake Township. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alden District Library 8751 Helena Road, Alden, MI 49612 or to the Alzheimers Association P.O.
