Betty White

Betty J. White, 83, of Charlevoix, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Bethany in Jackson. Born July 3, 1931, in Central Lake to Theodore and Ruth (Wilson) Browe. She grew up in Central Lake, then attended and graduated from Charlevoix High School. Betty loved to sew and enjoyed crafts. She and eleven other women created a co-op and opened Brown Bag Originals in Charlevoix, selling arts and crafts on consignment. She became known for her beautiful cake decorating skills, as many weddings, birthdays, showers, and other events were made special by her handiwork. Betty was a member of Saint Mary Church and the Saint Mary Altar Society. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #1153 Auxiliary. She was also an avid doll collector. She worked as a bookkeeper for B&D Electric, and ran Betty's Book Shop for several years.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Terri (Melvin) Waisanen of Jackson, Toni Holtzman of Gaylord, Karen McGee of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Lisa Fleming, Stephanie King, Bonnie Paschke, Aaron Paschke, Nikki Ragan, Michael Holtzman, Christopher Holtzman, Miles McGee, and Denny McGee; great-grandchildren, Marley and Jane King, Brennant and Olivia Paschke, Jacob and Kailyn Ragan; brothers, Ray (Cheryl) Browe of Charlevoix, Tom (Maude) Browe of Florida, Theodore (Carol) Browe of Texas; sisters, Mary (Al) Corp of Ellsworth, Becky (Dan) Lester of Missouri, Ruth Ann Marley of Arizona. Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Denver Jackson and Donald White; brothers, Will and Jim; sister Bonnie Rollenhagan; son-in-law, Ross McGee.

Visitation 6-8 pm, Thursday, June 18, at Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, the Rosary following at 8 pm. Funeral mass 1:30 pm, Friday, at Saint Mary Church in Charlevoix. Interment at Saint Mary Cemetery. Contributions to Bethany Care Home and Hospice, 1000 East Porter St., Jackson, MI 49203.
