Betty VanAntwerp

Betty Ruth (Erwin) Shawl Van Antwerp passed away on September 22, 2019, at the age of 97.  Betty was born in Bay City, MI to John T. and Grace Erwin.  After graduation from Bay City Central High School, she married Thomas E. Shawl, who predeceased her in 1993.  She is survived by their five children:   Ruth Ann Nast (Donald), of Sugar Hill, GA; James T. Shawl (Cynthia) of Central Lake, MI; Nathan A. Shawl (Kathy) of Pinconning, MI; Jonathan R. Shawl (Belinda) of Central Lake, MI; and Timothy N. Shawl (Tina) also of Central Lake.  She is also survived by her brother, John R. Erwin (Joan) of Huntington Beach, CA, 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. In 1999 she married Ellwood Van Antwerp who predeceased her in 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 13, at Church in the Hills, 6401 Shanty Creek Rd., Bellaire, MI.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at Meadow Brook in Bellaire and her friends who visited her there.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s name to Church in the Hills, P.O. Box 319, Bellaire, MI,
