Betty Ryan (Olach)

Betty June Ryan (Olach), 94, of Charlevoix, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at her home. She was born August 5, 1921, in Detroit, to Achiel and Florence Irene (Tossy) DeWolf.

On September 27, 1942, she married James Edwin Ryan in Dorchester, Mass., Betty and Jim had five children, and in retirement made their home in Charlevoix. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1985.

Betty married Clement Frank Olach of Charlevoix of Charlevoix on December 28, 1995, and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2006.

Betty was active in her community and was a member of the Charlevoix Area Garden Club, and the Charlevoix Area Hospital Guild. She was a RSVP Volunteer in Petoskey, and belonged to The Friends of the Charlevoix Library.

She is survived by her children, James Edwin Ryan, Jr. of Lake Leelanau, Cathleen Patricia Schmitz of Lansing, Betty Jean (David) Ring of Memphis, Tenn., Michele Rose Ryan of Grand Ledge, Michael Francis (Amelia) Ryan of Boyne City. Betty's brother Russell William Kirkpatrick preceded her in death.

At Betty's request, no services will be held. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Charlevoix.
