Betty Drenth

Betty Lanning Drenth, 85, of Mancelona, died Tues. Aug. 25, 2009 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born December 25, 1923 in Alba, the daughter of William and Hattie (Hawley) Borst. Betty lived in Mancelona her whole life. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and camping. Betty attended Mancelona Free Methodist Church. On Nov. 6, 1999, in Mancelona, she married William H. Drenth who survives. Also surviving are her children Norman (Edna) Lanning, Clifford (Vicki) Lanning, Dennis (Susan) Lanning, Susan (Mark) Kler all of Mancelona, stepchildren Larry (Dorothy) Drenth, Linda (Neil) Olstrom all of East Jordan, Ken (Gail) Batterbee of Grand Blanc, Jake (Billie) Grody of East Jordan, John (Jackie) Nachazel of Ellsworth, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Ward Lanning, all of her siblings, great grandson Cody, and her parents. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 at Two p.m. at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church with Rev. Gerald Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Chapman Cemetery, Custer Twp. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
