Bethel Bye

Bethel J. Bye, 88, of East Jordan died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
She was born August 1, 1929 in Keswick Township, Leelanau County, Michigan, to Perry and Bertha (Lambert) Groesser.
On November 13, 1947 she married Clifford Bye in Keswick Township. They made their home in Flint until moving to East Jordan in 1989.
Bethel taught school at Westwood Heights School System in Flint until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed swimming, traveling and going to the Senior Center.
Surviving are her husband Clifford; children Nels (Marsha) Bye of Hillman and Lois (James) Banks of Hickory Hills, Illinois; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Betty Groesser of East Jordan. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Bye, brothers Gale Groesser, Lester Groesser and Perry Leon Groesser.
Bethel's body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 22, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Jordan.
