Bernard Elvin Conway, 84, of Mancelona, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Munson Health Center in Kalkaska, MI. He was born on July 22, 1935 in Mancelona, the son of John and Margaret (Boroff) Conway.
Bernie served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a mechanic. He worked at DURA for many years, volunteered on the Mancelona EMS, and he also spent a lot of his time refereeing football games all over Northern Michigan. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, taking family trips to Canada, and going to the casino. He was a member of the Mancelona Lions Club as well.
Bernie is survived by a son, Craig (Donna) Conway of Mancelona; two grandsons, Craig II of Manton, and Derek Conway of Mancelona; and a sister, Barbara Marshall of Bellaire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Conway; four brothers, Jim Conway, John Conway, Ron Conway, and Bill Conway; two sisters, Beatrice Lockery, and Betty Guyett; as well as his parents.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Mancelona Athletic Department.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 also at the Mancelona Chapel.
