Barbara Tranberg

Barbara Marie Tranberg, 71, of Bellaire, formerly of East Lansing, passed away unexpectedly on October 4, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 28, 1952, in Warren, MN, the daughter of Marvin and Maxine (Engen) Eukel.

Barb graduated from Kennedy High School in 1970. She went on to earn her nursing diploma at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Duluth, MN in 1973. On August 23, 1975, she married the love of her life, Daniel Tranberg, in Kennedy, MN. That same year they moved to East Lansing, MI, where they would raise two children and nine dogs. Barb worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, first at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorehead, MN, and then at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, MI before retiring in 2013. In 2007, they built a vacation home nestled among the hills of Shanty Creek in Bellaire. They moved there permanently upon her retirement.

Barb spent much of her time outdoors; she liked hiking with her dog, kayaking, and tending to her flower gardens. She was an avid reader and belonged to a book club at the Bellaire Public Library. Barb was skilled in textile arts, and she loved nothing more than knitting, sewing, crocheting, or quilting gifts for her loved ones. She and Dan also enjoyed traveling together, especially to Europe.

Barb is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel Tranberg; two children, Marcus Tranberg of Chicago, IL, and Molly Tranberg of Brooklyn, NY; her granddaughter, Delilah; three brothers, Kevin (Mary Jo) Eukel of Minneapolis, MN, Mark (Bonnie) Eukel of Dilworth, MN, and Robert (Andrea) Eukel of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Colleen Eukel of Minneapolis; eight nieces and nephews; her dear dog, Rudy; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kenneth Eukel; and one of her best friends, Teresa Wyatt.

Services will be announced at a future date and will be held at the Haslett Community Church in Haslett, MI.
