Barbara Martin

Barbara Louise Boughner Martin, 90 of Key West, FL passed away on Thursday February 16, 2017 at Lower Keys Medical Center, Key West, FL. She was born on August 12, 1926 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Charles Boughner of Canada and Helen Meyer Boughner of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Barbara received a Bachelors Degree from Hillsdale College. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and served as president of her chapter. Barbara had a thirty year career, working as a social worker for the Oakland County Court in Michigan. She was a board member of the Key West library. Barbara volunteered at the Botanical Gardens. She loved and enjoyed her tennis group in Key West. Barbara was an avid reader, an active Mah Jong Player, and enjoyed knitting and needle point. Barbara and her husband have been visiting Key West since 1959 and a resident since 1981. Their summers were spent in Eastport, Michigan. Surviving is her husband for over sixty-six years, Charles Earl Martin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends starting at 10:30. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township. A light luncheon will follow at Torch Lake CafAC.. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe given in her name to dogsforthedeaf.org.
