Barbara Morrison Kopkau, 88, of Williamsburg passed away on March 23, 2018 at Grand Traverse Pavillion.
Barbara was born on January 11, 1930 in Yuba to the late Peter Clyde and Daisy (Levall) Morrison. She attended Yuba School then graduated from Traverse City High before attending CMU in 1948. She loved the history of Yuba and was a consistent attendee of the Class of ’47 meetings. She was an extremely hard worker and was very proud of the work that she did on the family farm as well as a deli manager at Publix Super Market.
Barbara will forever be known as the Cooking Queen. She enjoyed spending her time cooking and would feed everyone that would allow her to do so. She loved watching her grandchildren at every chance that was given to her. Her great grandchildren brought her the largest amount of joy in the past few years. Barbara was very passionate about politics and debating her views.
Barbara is survived by her children, Craig (Carol) Kopkau of Largo, Florida, Karen (Ron) Riegle of Williamsburg, David (Terrie) Kopkau of Kewadin, Katie (Steve) Puterbaugh of Eagle River, Alaska. Barbara is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Clare Kopkau, her parents, sisters, Isabel and Daisy and brothers, Peter and Bruce.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Historical Elk Rapids Town Hall at 401 River Street in Elk Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Yuba Historical Society, 8265 Sayler Road Williamsburg, MI 49690.
