Barbara DeForest

Barbara J. DeForest, 72, of Traverse City, formerly of Central Lake, passed away on October 25, 2014 at Munson Medical Center. Barbara was born on December 17, 1941, in Del Rio, TX, the daughter of Thurman and Edrena (Sanders) Tooke. Barbara was a longtime resident of Central Lake before moving to Traverse City 8 years ago. She loved to do word searches and watch soap operas. Most of all, she loved spending time and taking care of the love of her life, Ziba. On May 4th they proudly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband Ziba. Also surviving are 3 children, Barbara (Darcy) Conner of LaPorte, TX, Tammy DeForest of Houston, TX, Tad (Tina) DeForest of Central Lake, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bobby, grandson Robbie, as well as a great-grandson John Jr. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Central Lake, Pastor Russell Tharp will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
