Barbara "BJ" Wyckoff

Barbara (BJ) Wyckoff, of Beaver Island, MI passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was born in Hastings, MI on Dec, 20, 1936. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church on Beaver Island.

She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, attended Eastern MI University and Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, MI. She was a registered nurse, practicing primary care in critical care areas. Community service filled her life for over 35 years. She was active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, board positions for numerous organizations, a certified Red Cross Instructor, coordinator and speaker for many community health events and both adult and children's garden clubs.  Personal interests included downhill skiing/racing, Alaska travel, playing bridge, reading, needlework, camping, cooking and gardening.

BJ and her beloved husband Phillip, have been connected to Beaver Island since 1979, building their retirement home in 1989, which they have called paradise. Surviving are her husband Phillip, and three living children: James Allen Katz of Mills River, NC, Susan Katz McFall (Mark) of Ann Arbor, MI and Jules Katz of Benton Harbor, MI. Grandchildren: Patrick Hayes (Jacqueline), Paul Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Savannah Dudley, Chelsea Froning (Zach), Corinne Froning (Jake), and seven great grandchildren. Her oldest daughter, Joan Ellen Allen preceded her in death in 2018. Father of the children, Kenneth F. Katz, also preceded her in death.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, November 14th at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Beaver Island with a luncheon to follow in the Parish Hall.  The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on beaverisland.tv  and will be available just a few moments before the Mass begins.
