Audrey Welch

Audrey D. Welch, formerly Audrey Ritt, passed away in Saginaw at the Cartwright Hospice Center on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. She was 85 years old.

The youngest of seven children, Audrey was born in Bellaire, Michigan on November 29, 1923 and was raised on the family farm outside of town on Ritt Road. In 1940, she graduated from Bellaire High School and attended Central State Teachers College in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force to serve as a member of the Women's Army Corps until 1945. She then returned to college and completed her bachelor's degree at Milton College located in Milton, Wisconsin. Audrey married Forrest D. Welch on September 29, 1951 and relocated to Saginaw, Michigan.

Audrey is survived by four children (Susan, Forrest, Matt and Donna), and six grandchildren (Alex, Jason, Meredith, Scott, Jessica, and Max).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 6th at Mortensen's Funeral Home in Bellaire. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Bellaire Historical Society, P.O. Box 646, Bellaire, MI 49615.
