Audrey Glander

Audrey Joyce (Dewitt-Stead) Glander, 91, of Bellaire passed away February 22, 2024, in Eastport.   She was born on April 8, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Martin and Marietta (Graeser) DeWitt.  

Audrey ice skated for T.B. Royals in Detroit as a teen and won many awards for speed skating events in Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois.  She also enjoyed drawing and oil painting.  

She was married to the late Donald George Stead, and they had a son Kenneth M. Stead.  In 1970 she married Robert Bruce Glander who also predeceased her.  

Audrey, Bruce, and Ken moved to Bellaire in October of 1973 after building their home on Shumaker Road with some family help.  She worked for the city services for ten years and then as the Kearney Township Clerk until her retirement in 1998.  

She leaves behind many family members and dear friends, Kenneth (Tammie) Stead of Bellaire, Cynthia Boughner of Wayland, MI, grandchildren Shane and Joel Stead, and Sherri Lynn Boughner, great-grandchildren, Chase, Clark, Arden, Camden, Harper, Izaac, Tyler, and Owen, one great-great-granddaughter, as well as her best friend and companion dog Sable.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her sisters, a grandson Joshua Stead and son-in-law Patrick Boughner.  

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire with Fr. Matthew Cowen officiating.  Interment will follow in Eldred Cemetery, Kearney Township.  

 Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire.
