Arvin Dawson

Arvin Leonard Dawson, 83 of Central Lake, died peacefully December 30, 2021 in Charlevoix.  He was born December 11, 1938 in Central Lake the son of Maurice and Beatrice (McGuire) Dawson.

Arvin graduated from Central Lake High School and was a proud member of the United States Marines Corps.  He was a gentle, honest man who was true to his word.  He was a farmer his entire life and enjoyed sharing his farming knowledge with his neighbors and friends.  Arv especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

On February 23, 1968 in Central Lake he married Alice (Harrison) Dawson his wife of 52 who survives.  Also surviving is his daughter Lisa Dawson of Central Lake, grandchildren Jennifer, Emma, Joshua, Owen, brothers Gene (Joanne) Dawson, Gary (Lois) Dawson, Dave (Lynda) Dawson, Kevin (Vicki) Dawson, Craig (Leslie) Dawson, and many nieces and nephew.   He was preceded in death by his daughter Kris Dawson, his parents, and sister Linda Prokop.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4th at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Matt Tharp officiating.  Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday, January 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions can be given to the Central Lake AmVets, PO BOX 432, Central Lake, MI 49622.
