Arnold Deters

Arnold "Arnie" Deters, 88, of Central Lake Township went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Charlevoix Area Hospital.

He was born September 30, 1923, the son of John and Ada (Pikart) Deters.

On June 21, 1947 he married Elma Puff in Fremont where they made their home. They moved to Central Lake Township in 1977 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June.

Arnie was a carpenter all his life and built their log home in Central Lake Township.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and puttering in his shop.

He was a member of the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church and served as deacon on the consistory.

Surviving are his wife Elma "Chick" Deters; two daughters, Kathy Shira of Fremont and Denise Deters of Farmington, New York; five grandchildren; brother Ronald (Velda) Deters of Fremont and sister Joan Tans of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Genevene Trygstead, Willmina Mulder, Grace Schotanus, and two brothers, Henry and Daniel Deters.

No visitation or memorial service is planned.

For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family suggests the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church.
