Arlyle Marie Koehler (nee Roberts), 89, of Detroit, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Detroit.
She was born October 16, 1925, in Lake City to Carlisle and Bertha (Hicks) Roberts. Arlyle graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1943, then earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Central Michigan University. She was a loving, caring teacher who taught elementary school in Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Oregon, retiring from the Lakeview School District in St. Clair Shores after seventeen years.
Arlyle was married to William A. Koehler in 1964, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2006.
Arlyle is survived by her daughter, Diane (Rick) Locke; son, William Koehler; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Roberts of Charlevoix, Carlyle (Martha) Roberts of Northport; sister, Mary Schrandt of Lansing; best friend and fellow teacher, Linda Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjory Himmel, Phyllis Roberts, and Joan Jolliffe; and brother, James Roberts.
Visitation will be 11 AM to 2 PM, Tuesday, August 4, at the Bible Baptist Church in Charlevoix, where the funeral will begin at 2 PM. The Reverend Philip Green will officiate. Burial will follow at the Barnard Cemetery.
