Arlene Folk

Arlene (Smedley) Folk, 86, of Cadillac, formerly of Kewadin, passed away on August 19, 2013 at the Lakeview of Cadillac. Arlene was born on August 16, 1927 in East Jordan, the daughter of Gerrit and Mabel (Hayes) Drogt. Arlene was a resident of Antrim County her entire life and was a Sunday School teacher at the Elk Rapids and Eastport Baptist Church. She was employed by the Elk Rapids Exchange Telephone Company for many years. Arlene enjoyed traveling, gardening, and feeding hummingbirds. She is best described as a "Virtuous" woman who spent her life taking care of others and was a caregiver to everyone around her. She is survived by 3 children, John (Rochelle) Smedley of Torch Lake Twp., Lois (Gene) Wilson of Cadillac, Sheron (Garth) Mortensen of Kewadin, daughter in-law Julie Smedley of Torch Lake Twp., a sister Lois Evans of Bellaire, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband John Smedley, her second husband William Folk, a son Mark Smedley and a brother John Gerrit Drogt. A memorial service will take place on Friday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Township.
