ARLENE MARY (KNOWLES) YOUNGEDYKE BRINKMAN 82, of Central Lake, was taken home in the loving arms of her savior on April 4, 2009 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Arlene was born in Central Lake on April 15, 1926 to Arthur and Lida (Dawson) Knowles. Her family was the center of her life and she always put their needs ahead of her own, even after suffering life-changing illnesses. Everyone who knew her remembers her kind, loving and generous nature. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Tom) Youmans, Dennis (Diane) YoungeDyke, Kenneth YoungeDyke, Karen (Al) Gredlein, William (Mary Sue) Brinkman, Rita Daniels, Marc Brinkman, grandchildren, Steve, Brian and Scott Youmans, Drew and Kellen YoungeDyke, Geoffrey, Gabrielle and Justin Veliquette, Mark and Bob Daniels and David and Diana Brinkman, 8 great-grandchildren, sister Marvel (Doyle) Eckhardt, sister-in-law Delores (Wayne) Steiner, sister-in-law Betty Steele and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Bertha Knowles, husbands Robert YoungeDyke, and August Brinkman, infant son Robert D. YoungeDyke, Jr., brother Jack (Irene) Knowles and sisters Ethel Knipe and Mary Sue LaVanway. She worked at the Gulf and Western (Dura) Stamping Plant in East Jordan for 29 years, belonged to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Central Lake and was a member of the Central Lake United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her family wishes to give a special thank you to all the care-givers at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire who treated her with love, kindness and compassion during her stay there and who called her "Mom", "Grandma" and the sweetest lady they knew. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Chuck Williams will officiate. Interment will take place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. also at the funeral home.
