April Childs

April M. Childs,  40, of Mancelona, passed away on June 5, 2020 at her daughters home.

She was born on March 14, 1980, in Traverse City, the daughter of David and Alice (Finch) Childs.

She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as her animals.  She loved many kinds of music and artwork.

On July 12, 2015, in Ionia, MI, she married Kris Duchnowski who survives.  Also surviving are 3 children, Emily Childs (Fiance Alex Watson), William Lowery, Wallace Lowery all of Mancelona, her mother Alice (Willis) Root of Mancelona, 3 sisters, Judy (Joe) Stott of Traverse City, Della Childs (Chris Grandstaff) of Mancelona, Dora Childs of Mancelona and one granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by a son David Childs, her father David Childs and all her grandparents.

There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, June 20, 2020 starting at 1:00 p.m. at her daughter’s home, 2600 Soderquist Rd., Mancelona, MI,  49659.

Memorial contributions may be made to DeVos Children’s Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
