Ann Hines Ahlgrim, 75, of Benson, Arizona, died Monday, March 20, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Annie was born on Jan. 29, 1942 on the family farm in Atwood, the daughter of Harold and Alice (Klooster) Nyland. She spent most of her years in Central Lake. After providing excellent customer service and quick jokes for her customers, turning many into lifelong friends, Annie retired from the Rowe Inn. She then traveled in the winter, with the goals of avoiding the snow and meeting new friends. Annie especially enjoyed cards, dominoes and puzzles, which she used as an excuse to be social. She was loving, funny and a card shark. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Thomas Ahlgrim; her devoted sister, Mae Gribble; her sons, Ralph (Barb) Hines, Richard (Kelly) Hines and Ray (Rose) Hines; her grandchildren, Jillian, Jasmine, Allie, Mary, Tyler and Kaitlyn; and countless dear friends. Annie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Henry "Bowb" Nyland. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the Blue Pelican Inn, Central Lake. A lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Please join us to share a story and a laugh. As Annie would say, "Have you heard the one about ... "
