Angela “Ange” Joy Corp passed away on September 2nd, 2022 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born in Charlevoix of Alfred and Mary Corp on Thanksgiving (Nov. 27th) 1980.
Ange spent her childhood in Ellsworth, going on extraordinary adventures with her 4 sisters and brother. She loved cooking, swimming in local lakes, and reading; especially mysteries and stories of the paranormal.
Angela also loved animals, and spent years in Chicago running a no-kill animal shelter. She personally rescued several pets, as well as “volun-telling” many family members and friends that they would also be taking on homeless animals, never knowing that these foster pets would become dearly-loved lifelong companions.
To others, Angela was many things: a soapmaker, a candlemaker, a hotelier, a production assistant, a dog walker, an animal shelter manager, a tutor, a beloved daughter and sister - but most of all, she was an aunt. She was patient and kind, and always let each of her nieces and nephews know that they were loved… and she gave the best hugs.
Family was important to Ange, and she loved her parents; as well as her many siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was passionate about many things - if she saw a need, she stepped up, and helped make a difference. No matter what, she might complain, but she would be there. She disliked her middle name (Joy), but it fit, as she brought so much joy to others… She gave wholeheartedly, selflessly, and boundlessly.
This obituary has been written by her surviving siblings and mother, and we are all devastated by our loss. Our only solace is that she is with her father, “Fred”, who died on February 10th, 2022.
Angela is survived by her mother Mary, and her sisters Nicole (Jim) Bonney, Jessie, Kimberly (fiancé: Tim Porter), and Rachael (John) Aimesbury; her brother Christopher; and her 9 nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved: Gemma, Keira, Angus, Jude, Alex, Freyja, Archer, Olivia, and John Henry.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlevoix.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with a rosary being said at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Antrim County Humane Society, 4660 M-88, Bellaire, MI, 49615; and to Good Samaritan Family Services, P.O. Box 206, Ellsworth, MI, 49729.
