Alice Montgomery

Alice E. "Tootie" Montgomery, 87, of Mancelona, passed away on January 4, 2016 at her home. Alice was born on August 19, 1928, the daughter of Elmer and Sarah (Higgins) Thomas. Alice was a lifelong resident of Mancelona where she had attended the Antrim Church of Christ. In her early years, she enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband Dale and snowmobiles. Later on in life, she knitted, crocheted, did crafts, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by a son Al (Shirley) Montgomery of Williamsburg, a daughter Jeanne (Randy) Brooks of Kalkaska, a granddaughter, Leighann Brooks and her fiancAC. Shawn Huff both of Kalkaska, a step-grandson, Steven Sasser of CO, 3 loving, great-grandchildren, Trenton, Brennah and Bryleigh all of Kalkaska as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Montgomery, 3 sisters, Betty Schepperley, June Kipp, Beulah Turnipseed, 2 brothers, Jim Thomas, Elwood Thomas and her parents. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Thomas Schmidt will officiate.
