Alfred Dennis Chapman

Alfred Dennis Chapman, 73, of Ellsworth, passed away on August 2, 2023. He was born on August 26, 1949, in South Lyon, the son of Joseph and LaDonna (Herold) Chapman.

Dennis was a generous man and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He always enjoyed being outdoors. In specific, he liked to be on the water fishing or in the woods hunting. Over the years, Dennis would go on to participate in many black powder rifle shooting competitions. He loved to be around his grandchildren, and if there was a hockey game on television you could catch him watching it. Dennis had an interest in model trains, and over time, he established a large collection.

Surviving him in death is his wife Patricia, two children, Mary (Louis) Thumser, Catherine (Brian) Drayton, six brothers, Ted, Dale, Henry, Gary, Chris, and Jeff, one sister Susan, six grandchildren, Alexander Thumser, Leo Thumser, Anna Rapin, Evan Rapin, Charlie Drayton, and Laura Drayton.

Preceding Dennis in death are his parents and daughter Mona (Chapman) Rapin.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Jordan on September 22nd at 1pm. There will be a luncheon following mass, interment will take place the same afternoon. Another gathering will be taking place that evening at Biers Inwood Brewery in Charlevoix, Lou Thumser is providing live music.
