Aldona Sileika Vilkauskas, 94, of Petoskey died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix. She was born March 21, 1921, in Lithuania to Justinas and Veronika (Janulevicius) Ulaitis. She fled from Lithuania in 1944 with her extended family and lived in a Displaced Person’s Camp in Germany until 1950 when she, her husband and two children immigrated to the United States and settled in Detroit.
Aldona lived in the Detroit area, Windsor, Ontario, Williamstown, Massachusetts, and Petoskey, Michigan. She was the head of the Meat Accounting Department when she retired from the Kroger Company in 1984. She volunteered at the Women’s Exchange and the local hospital in Massachusetts and became part of the community. When she took up residence at Independence Village in Petoskey, she endeared herself to the staff and residents during the 6 years that she was there.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Antanas Sileika and second husband Kazimieras Vilkauskas, and her sister, Grazina Urbonas. She is survived by her daughters, Birute Fleck (William) of Charlevoix Michigan, Gintare Everett and family of Williamstown, Massachusetts; nephew, Juozas Vaiciunas and family of Novi, Michigan; niece, Ramona Marsh and family of Clarenden Hills, Illinois; as well as three nephews in Toronto and Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

A memorial service and internment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan in June 2016.
