ALBERT LOPER 98, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Central Lake, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. Albert was born on August 11, 1908 in Carter County, KY., the son of Thomas and Polly (Webb) Loper. He had resided in Grand Rapids for the past 54 years where he was a member of the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son Robert (Nancy) Loper of Elk Rapids, four grandchildren, Charlene (Bob) Widrig of Traverse City, Maureen (Doug) Gayford of Traverse City, Nancy Lynn (Charles) Drinkwine of Rapid City, Robert E. Loper of North Carolina, 5 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a step daughter Lois Brown of Ypsilanti and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his soulmate Wilma Loper in 2006, his parents and nine siblings, James, May, Homer, John, William, Charles, Harrison, Lillian and Emma and a great grandson Wade Bargy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Two p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Julie Greyerbiehl will officiate.
