A.J. Roy

A.J. Roy Jr., of Bellaire, passed away July 10, 2010, at home. He was born October 1930, son of A.J. & Mabel Roy. He graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in Jan. 1950 and enlisted in the Navy in November 1950. Served 4 years during the Korean War in the Pacific Theater. In July 1954 he married Betty Lou Rendleman. A.J. served on the Addison Township Fire and Police board for 4 years, helped start Boy Scout Troop 284 in Lake Orion, of which he became Scoutmaster, serving over 10 years in this capacity. He worked for the Oakland County Road Commission for over 25 years as a tree trimmer, truck driver, sign shop and radio repairman. Upon moving to Bellaire in 1985 A.J. served as a citizen at large on the Antrim County 911 Board for 5 years. He also wanted to be involved in the community so he joined the Bellaire Lions Club of which he was very active. He became the Eye Glass and Hearing Aid Chairman and other capacities as needed. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers , and his beloved wife, Betty. In 2008 he married Kathleen Silva who survives, his children daughters: Robyne (Dave)Malone, Lori (Pat) Raymond, Sons: Kim (Lori), Daryl (Kay), Wesley (Kelly). His step children Trisha (Mike) Brisbois , Lisa Kay (Al) Becker, Dean (Krista) Willson Jr., and Bill (Becky) Willson. 16 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests the memorial gifts be made to American Cancer Society or Pulmonary Fibrosis foundation in A.J.'s name A memorial service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church, on Tuesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Scott officiating.
