Adele Steele

Adele A. Steele, 81, of Bellaire, passed away on September 12, 2015 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Adele was born on February 21, 1934, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Dwight and Marie (VerHage) Johnson. Adele held memberships in the Coloma O.E.S. # 386, VFW Aux in Kalkaska, American Legion Aux in Coloma, also held positions in several county election boards. She volunteered at the Welcome Wagon, was president of residents at Meadow Brook since 2001 and enjoyed painting, ceramics, knitting, sewing, baking and was known as a "crazy Driver". She was always pleasant, smiling and trying to make sure everyone knew her daughter Jennifer whom she's introduced more times than anyone could count. Prior to moving into Meadow Brook, she enjoyed taking care of people, taking them to appointments, and baking bread for her neighbors. During her stay at Meadow Brook she was very active with other residents. Adele was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Larry, Wesley, Allen, Duane, and a daughter Marietta Hudson. She is survived by a daughter Jennifer Steele, 3 grandchildren, Bryan David Hudson, Nichole Marie Steele (Josh) Hilligoss, Craig Joseph VanLoon II, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church in the Hills in Bellaire. Pastor David Ramage will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
