Lee S. Colvin, 77, of Torch Lake Twp., died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at home. He was born December 23, 1931 in Butler, New York, the son of George and Marjorie (Washburn) Colvin. Following his retirement, Lee moved to Kewadin in 1994 after many years in Dearborn. He served on the Torch Lake Zoning Board and the Torch Lake Planning Commission. He attended Kewadin United Methodist Church. Lee enjoyed farming, woodworking, making maple syrup and cooking at church suppers. On November 7, 1953 he married P. Dale Hathaway who preceded him in death in 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents. On May 27, 2000, at their home on Torch Lake, he married Patricia (Erickson) Jones who survives. Also surviving are 3 children Cynthia (John) Criteser of Westland, Claudia (Joseph) Chiampi of Allen Park, Caran Colvin of Daly City, CA, 3 stepchildren Eric (Tena) Jones of Mancelona, Steven Jones of Kalkaska, Joni (Bruce) Knoch of Byron Center, 3 grandchildren Eric, Amanda, and Jenna, 4 step grandchildren Steven, Traci, Christina and Sara, 4 step great grandchildren Bekki, Avery, Ella, and Emma, many nieces and nephews, 3 brothers Donald (Lynn) Colvin of Savannah of NY, Gerald (Euleta) Colvin of Red Creek, NY, Neil (Diane) Colvin of Eden, NY, and sister Phyllis (Don) Frink of Randolph, NY,. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Bill Chu officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Twp. The family will receive friends Monday, May 11, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
