JoAnne Thompson

JoAnne Thompson, 69, of Mancelona passed away on February 14, 2017 at Munson Medical Center. JoAnne was born on October 28, 1947 in Mancelona, the daughter of Leathal and Marion (Bowman) McCarty. JoAnne was a hard worker who loved spending her time with family, cooking for friends and family and fishing. She was a member of the Mancelona Moose Lodge and a past member of the Iona Elks Lodge where she was an Exalter/Ruler. On March 28, 1985 in Bellaire JoAnne married Michael S. Thompson who survives. She is also survived by her 6 children, Bruce "Nick" Underwood of Mancelona, Bobby Joe (Brianna) Underwood of Elmira, Mike Thompson of Muir, Karrie (Justin) Kulhawick of Bath, OH., Stacey Thompson of Hudsonville, MI., Jaime Girvin of Ionia, MI.; brothers, Leathal (Jackie) McCarty, Larry McCarty both of Mancelona, sisters; Melba (Jim) Crothers of Alden, Nona McCarthy (John) of Kalkaska; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Ryder Underwood and several aunts and uncles. No services are planned at this time. A gathering of friends and family will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Moosehaven, 1701 Park Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073.
